Our Mission
Yumiere was born from the belief that healing is not something that happens to you — it’s something you create. Inspired by 玉 (yu), meaning jade or precious gem in Chinese, and Lumière, the French word for light, our name embodies the fusion of strength and radiance — a reflection of bespoke beauty and inner transformation.
Based in London, UK, we design and handcraft custom crystal jewellery and personalised gemstone bracelets that do more than adorn — they empower. Each piece is a ritual of intention, a reminder to align with your inner light, and a celebration of who you are becoming.
Our Founder’s Story
The story of Yumiere begins with our founder, Niki, a PhD researcher in Human–AI Interaction. Her days were spent studying the intricate dance between algorithms and human behaviour, running user studies, sifting through data, and navigating the intensely analytical.
Three months into the relentless rhythm of her PhD thesis, she hit a wall. She longed for something tangible, grounding, creative, and human. That search for balance led her, almost accidentally, to the world of natural gemstones.
What began as a hobby — making bracelets for friends — quickly became something more. As a researcher, she didn’t just string beads together; she spent hours understanding what people truly wanted — their intentions, personal stories, and the crystal meanings they were drawn to. This human insight became the foundation of Yumiere.
Then came a spark of intuition. Drawing on her background in Human–Computer Interaction, she realised there could be an interface to make this creative process accessible to everyone. Within a single day — with the help of advanced AI tools and her design instincts — she built a working prototype: the Custom Bracelet Builder.
The interface was later patented — designed to let anyone become the artist. It empowers people to design their own crystal bracelets, choose their gemstones, and infuse each piece with their personal meaning and intention. Her friends loved how intuitive and empowering it was — turning design into a joyful, mindful act.
With that encouragement, Yumiere officially came to life. What began as an act of balance between technology and creativity evolved into a brand that helps others find harmony between energy, artistry, and intention.
